FloDesign Sonics, which is developing technology that uses sound vibrations to filter fluids including blood, has licensed that technology to industry giant Pall Corporation.
FloDesign Sonics is one of a family of FloDesign companies based on Walter Presz's research and teaching at the Western New England University School of Engineering. Presz's concepts are all related to the flow and behavior of fluids, including gases like air and jet exhaust or the expanding gases in the barrel of a firearm.
FloDesign Sonics plans to produce 10 beta units for testing in 2015.
FloDesign and Pall announced the deal Friday during an industry conference in Germany. Pall is headquartered in Port Washington, New York, and has operations all over the world.
